We planted grass seeds last week. We watered them and made sure they were in a sunny spot and they finally started to grow!!

Reading accountability buddies

We have been working with our reading accountability buddies to make sure that we are recording our books in our book log and choosing books that are just right.  Students also spend time reflecting on the books that they've been reading during their independent reading time and also make book recommendations to their buddy.

Buzzing About Books

Our reading lesson today was about making book recommendations to our friends. Before recommending a book, you have to find out about the reader's interests.  Students practiced telling why the book was special to them.  Then they gave a short summary without giving away too much. And last, they chose an excerpt from the book that would intrigue someone else to read the book.
