How Do You Want to be Remembered?

I heard about this class meeting idea and thought it was a great idea for our end of the year class meeting.  One morning I had the words "How do you want to be remembered on the board?" with nothing else.  While the kids were at specials, I added all of the negative words.  Boy, were they surprised and perplexed when they returned.  I left them on the board for a day and a half before we had our meeting.  We talked about how we want to be remembered by our classmates and others throughout our lives.  Then we replaced all of the negative words with positive words.  Because that's how WE WANT TO BE REMEMBERED!

Our Year Together in 3rd Grade Video

Stick the Mustache on Mrs. Scott

This was a fun activity we did today!  I saw it on Pinterest and thought it would be perfect for the last week of school.  The kids loved it, too!  Nobody got it exactly right, but they got pretty close!

MAP Effort Reward Activities

To reward the third graders for their hard work during the two weeks of MAP testing, we offered some activities in each classroom today. One room was arts and crafts, one was for building and Legos, and the other two were for various board games.  The kids really enjoyed some free choice time to create and have fun with friends from other classrooms.

Speed Geeking Sessions

Third graders got to pick something they were interested in learning more about using technology.  The categories were: making videos/photography, making music, making presentations, and making websites/coding. Fifth graders came and spent an hour teaching them these new tools and gave them a chance to explore it themselves.  I thought it was a great experience for the third graders, and the fifth graders did a nice job leading/teaching the sessions!

Shadows

Students measured shadows three times today at 9:15, 12:00, and 3:15. We got to observe how the sun seems to move across the sky from east to west.
