Light It Up BLUE!

April 2 is World Autism Awareness Day. As you know, at Tiffany Ridge, we have two classrooms of students with autism. We see these students on a daily basis; in the halls, in the lunchroom, in our pod area. Their classrooms are located in the second and third grade halls, so we probably get to see these students more than most grade levels. From the beginning of the year, when we had our class meetings, we discussed these students' differences, and OUR differences. I have to say, I feel like the kids have been very compassionate, kind, understanding, curious, but overall, learned to treat these students just like any other student. This week at Tiffany Ridge we are going to "Light It Up BLUE" to raise awareness for autism. If you have time over dinner one evening, see if your child has any thoughts or feelings to share with you about this topic.  Here's a song to get you started. Beware, it's catchy!

Cause and Effect

Today we worked in partners to read a nonfiction book called Water in Deserts. Students practiced finding and recording examples of cause and effect throughout the text.

Water Cycle

This week in science we started learning about the water cycle. Today we made these water cycles in a bag. They are hanging in our classroom window. We will make observations throughout the day over the next two days. Hopefully we will be able to see the three main stages in the water cycle including evaporation, condensation, and precipitation.
